Janice Powell

Janice Freeman Powell, age 78, passed away at her residence in Houston Texas on Monday, May 24, 2021. She was a native of Houma and a resident of Houston, Texas.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m.  until 12:30 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 11:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Bernadette Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.

Janice is survived by her sons, Robert William Powell II, and Ryan Willis Powell and wife Carmen; grandchildren, Ava & Emma Powell & Scarlet Mabel & Jocelyn Powell & Randall Powel and five great grandchildren.

Janice is preceded in death by her son, Roderick Powell; parents, Dewey and Mabel Melancon Freeman; and her former husband Robert (Bob) Powell.

Janice was a retired & dedicated teacher through out her career. She also enjoyed working w/Tupperware in the 70's & Fundraising in the 80's. She loved her grand babies and lived for her family.  Mom was our Captain and will be missed.
