James “Joe’ Prosperie, age 54, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Joe had some medical hardships in life, but never let it stop him from blessing others. Joe was a lifelong resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Chapel Dauphine at Chauvin Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Liturgy of the Word at 12:00 p.m. Deacon Lee Crochet will officiate the service and burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Joe is survived by his children, Lucius Prosperie and wife Trisha, Austin Prosperie and wife Kaylee, Josie Prosperie; grandchildren, Xander, Alaina, Jude, and Xzavier Prosperie; sister, Veronica Prosperie, and Heddy Guidry; amazing nephew, Bubba Dave; loving and caring companion, Crystal Webre. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Benoit Prosperie; Joe’s godmother, Judy McClear.
Joe was an outstanding father and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He was never lost for words and could hold a conversation for hours. Everyone who knew Joe was blessed in many ways. Joe was loving, caring, outgoing, and giving. He had a good heart and always loved helping others and expecting nothing in return. Joe was a Boat Captain and then became a supervisor for Tongs Specialties. Although Joe battled his medical issues for years, he never let it get in the way of his loving spirit. Joe has left this world and has been united with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”.
