James “Jimmy” Alton English was sent by God to John H. and Mildred English on December 3, 1938. He was called Jimmy by friends and family. He went home on March 12, 2020 at 11:18 a.m. God opened his arms and said, “Welcome Home My Child.” He was 81 years 3 months and 9 days old.
Jimmy was welcomed to Heaven by his parents, John H. and Mildred English, a brother, grandparents Jessie and Alice English; Bob and Effie Hughes, his son James Alton English, Jr., and granddaughter, Piper Angelle’ English.
Waiting to join Jimmy at later dates are; his wife of 61 years and 6 months, Nancy Fletcher English, son, James Paul “Paul” and wife Judy, John Fletcher and wife Susan, Michael Todd and wife Ursula, godchild, Keyna Slaughter (daughter by another Mom and Dad); grandchildren, John F. English, Jr., Steven English and Denee English and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah English, Braxton English and Lyric Naquin.
Jimmy worked at a store from the age of 12 until he was 18. After he and Nancy married, he worked as a roughneck for 1 day and told Nancy “we may starve but will not roughneck again.” He did not. He worked for Lane Well and Dresser Atlas until he began to teach 5th grade at Dularge Middle for 30 years. He has a B.S. – Masters and Masters Plus 30 from Nicholls State, LSU and Tulane. Jimmy loved to teach and touched the lives of many.
He will be missed by many – REST WELL MY LOVE – Nancy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home with burial on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Jackson Community Baptist Church Cemetery on Hwy 7 in Joaquin, Texas.
