Ismay Lirette

April 3, 1926 — May 31, 2021

Ismay Lirette, 95, a native and resident of Chauvin, died peacefully Monday morning, May 31, 2021.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until funeral time at 11:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Brent Lirette and wife, Shannon, of Houston, Texas, and Melvin Lirette and wife, Carol, of Houma; daughters, Susie Boudreaux and husband, Felton, of Chauvin, Peggy Lirette, of Chauvin, and Merril Levien and husband, David, of Houlton, Maine; brother, Jimmy Thibodeaux and wife Doris; grandchildren, Michael and Bill Levien, Rachel DiStefano, Kristee Hukill, Temi Little, Jena Belanger, Kerry Trosclair, Kurt and Kyle Zamarripa, Teri, Greg, and Sean Boudreaux, Kim LeBouef, Cindy Dubois, Taryn Ugas, David Allemand, Stacie Kilgore, and Jaime Stuart; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey “Druis” Lirette, daughter, Lisa, parents Arthur Thibodeaux Sr. and Ella P. Thibodeaux; brothers, Arthur Jr. "T-Tur," Lindsey "T-Lin," Wilbert, and Elton "T-Yet" Thibodeaux; and sisters, Vallie Collins, Blanche Theriot, and Winona "T-Non" Lirette; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Naquin Lirette.

She loved her large family, made each person feel special and remembered their favorite foods. She was a devoted wife for 67 years and a role model for her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and had a fondness for boiled shrimp, hamburgers, and peppermints.

Ismay was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother and to the recitation of the Rosary. She is a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. She looked forward to birthday parties at the Senior Citizens Center in Chauvin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial Masses are requested to be said in her memory at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin.
