Houston "Sou" Lirette, Sr.

Houston “Sou” Lirette, Sr., age 92, passed away Saturday April 24, 2021 surrounded by  his loving family. He was a native and longtime resident of Chauvin, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home Tuesday April 27, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday April 28, 2021 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin at 10:00 AM with burial to follow.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, masks are required and social distancing should be practiced.

Sou is survived by his children, Christine Robichaux Percle (Philip), Houston Lirette, Jr. (Denelda), Patrice McGuinness (Owen), Robert Lirette (Jody), Jimmy Lirette (Joseana); grandchildren, Monique, Karen, Pete, Tate, Clay, Elise, Nicole, Ian, Andrew, Anna, Albert, Mindy, Ramsey, Tony, Zachary, Julliana; thirty-five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Faquard Lirette (Florence), Elgin Lirette (Sondra).

Sou is preceded in death by his wife, Helen LeCompte Lirette; parents, Albert Lirette, Jr. and Lottie Authement Lirette; son-in-law, Allen Robichaux, Sr.; granddauthter, Angelle Lirette.

Sou was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His life was on the water and he was well known for his mechanical skills and business ventures in the boating industry. His time and devotion to Lagniappe on the Bayou and the community was selfless. Sou was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
