Helen Bonnette

Helen Theresa Lirette Bonnette, 88, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018. Helen is a native of Houma, LA and resident of Thibodaux, LA.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00PM until 9:00PM and Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin, LA from 9:30AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:30AM at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Bisland Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six, Kirby J. Bonnette Jr; her children, Josephine I Cassou and partner Gloria Weez Clement; grandchildren, Sam Cassou, Helen Tedesco, Steve J. Griffin III, Matthew Griffin; great great grandchildren, Midori Cassou, Zachary Cassou, Bim Jordan, Dekker Jordan, Gabrielle Griffin McCoy, Rochelle Griffin, Steve J. Griffin IV, Olivia Griffin, and Sarah Josephine Griffin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Israel Dutrell Lirette and Josephine Bergeron Lirette; her son, Steve J. Griffin Jr.; daughter, Laurel N. Bonnette; sibling, Delta Domangue, Yvonne Blanchard, Isma Griffin, Velma Lirette Neil, Dorothy Lirette, James Lirette, Julius Lirette, Roy Lirette, Hewitt Lirette, Beverly Lirette, and two infant siblings.

Helen and her husband had a joy of music and spread that love to all they met. She had a special ministry to help the homeless and all those in need. Helen had a great respect for life; be that human or animal.

Helen’s love of life and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her; but never ever forgotten and she will be forever loved.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Russell Henry, and the doctors and nurses in the Neuro ICU of Ochsner Medical Center.
