Gurvis “Go” Paul Blanchard, age 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 10:09 p.m. He was a native and resident of Chauvin, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 10, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in the church cemetery.
Gurvis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janise Anne Dupre Blanchard; daughter, Althea B. Parks and husband, Terry; sisters, Ena B. Savoie and Lucy B. Chauvin; grandsons, Cody D. Parks and Brent J. Parks.
Gurvis is preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Therese Blanchard Blanchard; daughter, Lynette M. Blanchard; brother, Roland Blanchard and wife, Dorothy; sisters, Evelyn B. Charpentier and husband, Joseph Sr., Betty B. Babin and husband, Jessie Sr., Emma B. Battise and husband, Richard Sr.; brother-in-law, Albert Savoie.
Go was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a boat captain. He was a member of the Ward 7 Citizens Club and the Chauvin Senior Center. He worked at the Lagniappe on the Bayou Fair many years. He enjoyed playing bingo and pokeno, fishing, and working in the yard. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
