Gertrude LaCoste DeHart, 79, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 1:20PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2018. She was a native of Houma, LA and resident of Theriot, LA.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00PM until 9:00PM and Monday, September 17, 2018 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00AM until service time. Services will begin Monday at 12:00PM with burial to follow in St. Eloi Cemetery in Theriot, LA.
Gertrude is survived by her Children, Cheryl DeHart and husband Danny Sr., Ricky DeHart and wife Melissa, Marty DeHart Sr., Cherie DeHart and husband Wilber Jr., and Renetta DeHart and late companion Wesley “Jug” Vail Jr.; Sisters, Hazel Verrett, Eula Mae Lirette and late husband Andrew Lirette, Pearly Mae Giroir and husband “L.J.”, Linda Lirette and husband Alfred, Sharon Verdin and husband Daniel; Brothers, Ray LaCoste Jr. and wife Mazel, Melvin LaCoste Sr. and wife Gwen, Mark LaCoste and late wife Connie, Ravin LaCoste Sr. and wife Melissa; 17 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Charles V. DeHart; Infant Son, Adam Ray DeHart; Parents, Ray LaCoste Sr. and Elvina Adams LaCoste; Sisters, Lois Lovell and husband Atlas, Gloria Liner and husband Claude Sr., Myrtle Aucoin and husband Paul, Celina LaCoste, and May Aucoin and husband Clay; Brothers, Ivy LaCoste and wife Rose, Peter LaCoste Sr. and surviving wife Celina, Paul LaCoste Sr. and wife Agonolia, Malcolm LaCoste Sr. and wife Betty; one Grandson, David Gros Jr.
Mrs. Gertrude enjoyed quilting, reading, and puzzles; but her most favorite time for her was when she was able to spend her time with her family, children, and grandchildren. She had a love of people and was a great listener. She was a wonderfully great cook and cooking was an important part of her time spent with family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Fadi Abou-Issa, Christy Hebert FNP, Dr. Alain Chestnut, Dr. Richard Abben and CIS, STAT Home Health Care, Terrebonne General Medical Center and Chauvin Funeral Home for their tender care and concern they have given to our mother and our family.
Gertrude will forever be remembered and loved and never ever forgotten.
