Gerald Salvador Valure, age 75, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Terrebonne General Medical Center on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was a longtime resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Thursday, October 11, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Martha Fuchs Valure; daughters, Melissa Valure Jones, Leslie Valure Flynn and husband Steven; grandchildren, Anthony Jones and wife Lindsay, Avery Jones, and Jason Gasper, Joshua and Joseph Flynn; great-grandchildren, Blakelyn and Brielle Jones; brothers, Barry and Brad Valure. He is also survived by his cocker spaniel, Henry.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador “Sam” Valure and Audrey Hebert Valure; grandmother, Eunice Simmons; grandfather, Jack Molthen.
Gerald was a loving husband, father and grandfather and very well-liked and respected in the community. He worked in the medical field with over fifty years of experience. Gerald and his wife Martha volunteered for many years with St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was also a certified scuba diver, certified pilot, and ham radio operator. Gerald had a special place in his heart for God. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and served as an acolyte and very active in the church. He now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
