Georgette "Velma" Ellender

Georgette “Velma” LeFort Ellender, age 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:50 a.m. She was a native of Leeville and a resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Velma is survived by her son, Ross Francis Ellender and wife, Sandra; daughters, Jessica Ellender Theriot and husband, Kiel, Gwendolyn Ellender, and Gredel Ellender D'Souza and husband, Leon.

Velma is preceded in death by her husband of 70-year, Joseph William Ellender, Sr.; sons, Joseph "Billy" William Jr. and Boyd Paul Ellender; daughters, Darkus Denise Ellender, Mollie B. Ellender; parents, Alexis Joseph Sr. and Harmonica Collins Lefort; siblings, Nola Cheramie, Annette Hingle, Azora Martin, Paul Lefort, Modest Richard, Alexis LeFort, Odette Pitre, and Della Clark.

Velma was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
