George Joseph “Coach George”, “Nonk” Thibodeaux, Jr., 80 a native of Dulac and resident of Houma, passed away Tuesday August 21,2018 at 1:05 AM
Visitation will be held in the Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday August 25,2018 from 8:30 a.m. until Service time. Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Holy Rosary Mausoleum.
Coach George is survived by his loving nieces, Hedy L. Melancon and Tabitha L. and husband Ernest Martinez. nephews: Michael “Mike” LeBoeuf and wife Tammy, Alvin Luke and wife Judy, Harold Luke and wife Angie and additional nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, Godchildren, Tabitha, Kathie and Cassie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr. and Julian LeBoeuf Thibodeaux, brothers, Arthur J. Luke, Justilien Carlos, Edward LeBoeuf, Sr., Harry J. Luke Jr., Harold J. Luke, Sr., Randolph Luke, and Thomas E. Luke, Sr., sister, Rita LeBoeuf Lusignan, godchild, Mark Quick Jr., nephews, Edward Jr. and Joe LeBoeuf, great nephews, Nicholas “Nick” Luke, Michael Luke Jr., and Caldon Crochet, niece, Arlene LeBoeuf and great nieces, Melinda L. LeBlanc and Mary L. Morgan.
Coach George was an air conditioning service technician who coached T.P.R. baseball for 18 years, and was fondly and often times referred to as “Coach George”. He played music with his band, “George Thibodeaux and the Country Music Playboys” and was often playing music at nursing homes, and the Folk Life Museum. He was an avid Roy Acuff fan, and fan for the Atlanta Braves, Saints, and L.S.U. He also had a passion for bowling and was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church.
The family wishes to extend a sincere and heartfelt thanks to Haydel Clinic, Haydel Hospice and Nathaniel Ward for their compassionate care extended to Coach George.
