Gary "Spike" Blanchard

Gary “Spike” Blanchard, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Spike was a lifelong resident of Houma, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the Magnolia Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary. Burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Spike is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Juanita “Bonnie” Blanchard; sons, Gary Dwayne Blanchard and Gary Charles Blanchard; daughter, Sunnie Dawn Cook; brother, Horace Blanchard (Lorena); grandchildren, Brittany, Darby, Michael, Garrett, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Sylvia, Gabriel, Cielo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Spike is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Virginia Blanchard; brothers, Jeffrey Blanchard and Alvin Blanchard, Sr.; sisters, Theresa Naquin, Mae Duplantis, and Pearl Guy. Spike was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. He was a Navy veteran, and he was also a mason, a member of the Jerusalem Shrine, and the Houma Shriner Organization. Spike also leaves behind many friends in the oilfield as he was an oilfield salesman for over 40 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregiver Mrs. Tanya Fitch Duplantis. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Gary “Spike” Blanchard.
