Florence Ruth Gouner

Florence Ruth Gouner, age 93, passed away Thursday January 28, 2021. She was a native of Keokuk, IA and longtime resident of Houma, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation Tuesday February 2, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bayou Black Cemetery.  

Ruth is survived by her son, Gregory Mark Gouner; stepchildren, Michael Gouner, Warren Gouner, Harris Gouner, Jr., Patricia Gilbert; grandchildren, James Gouner, Amy Gouner, Steven Gouner, Katherine Gouner; sister, Catherine Garlin.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Harris L. Gouner; parents, Orien Rhodes and Catherine Davis Rhodes; sisters, Irene Irvin and Helen Shaffer; stepdaughter, Ann Heilman.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent many years teaching as a Professor of Nursing at NSU. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Due to COVID 19 and the CDC rules, masks are to be worn at all times and social distancing should be practiced.
