Ethel “Toonie” Tregre LeCompte Daigle, 88, passed away September 6, 2017. She was a native of Union, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Houma, LA beginning at 9:00AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Gregory Catholic Church at 11:00AM with burial to follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. Ethel is survived by her Sons, Ricky LeCompte and wife Shirley , Michael LeCompte and wife Leslie, both of Houma, LA; Daughters, Patricia Bender and husband Tom of Tyler, TX, Mary Susan Farrar and husband Dr. Scott Farrar of Ft. Worth, TX; Step-Daughters, Rita Murphy and husband Kenneth of Brandon, MS, and Patricia Lively and husband Selser of Baton Rouge, LA; Sister, Ann Redmond; Grandchildren, Jacob and Luke Bender, Stephanie Rice, Justin Andrews, Sarah Roach, Emily Johnson, Paul LeCompte, Dana DeHart, Rachel LeCompte, and Michelle Blanchard; Great-Grandchildren, Dillon, Griffin and Will Rice, Amalie and Beau Bender, Sam and Liv Bender, Alex Andrews, Jayden and Arden Roach, Tracey, Kayelee and Sadie LeCompte, Lorelei, McKenna, Natalie DeHart, and Abigail Blanchard; Step-Grandchildren, Christine Labban, Scott Lively, Ryan, Stephen and John Murphy; Step-Great-Grandchildren, Alden Grace Labban, Greyson and Green, Leigh Lively, Seth, Caleb and Katey Murphy; Godchildren, Woody Tregre and Christine Bourg. Ethel is preceded in death by her 1st Husband, Lee Peter LeCompte and 2nd Husband, Walter Thomas Daigle; Parents Felicien and Marguerite Boudreaux Tregre; Brother, Woodrow “Joe” Tregre; Sisters, Gladys LeBouef and husband Lawrence, Isabel Buck and husband Charles, Lucy Tregre, Sadie Lirette and husband Conrad, Suzanne Porche and husband Claude, Joyce Breaux and husband Henry, and brother-in-law Bert Redmond. Mrs. Daigle was a retired school teacher and guidance counselor, retiring from H.L. Bourgeois High School in 1980. Her teaching career included tenures at Bayou DuLarge Elementary School, St. Francis DeSales School, Bourg Elementary, Evergreen Jr. High, Wyandotte Elementary, M.E. Norman Elementary and Morgan City Jr. High. Mrs. Daigle was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers’ Association, Louisiana State Retired Teachers’ Association and Labadieville, American Legion Auxiliary Post #284 and Friends of the Library. She was also an active member of St. Philomena Catholic Church for 23 years. The St. Philomena Bereavement Committee was always dear to her heart and because of her dedication to St. Philomena Church she was chosen 2003 Grand Marshall of the Labadieville Community Fair. Toonie spent countless hours doing genealogy. She was the author of: The Daigle Family: Acadia to Valence, The LeCompte Connection, A Tregre Reunion, and Boudreauxs on the River.
