Ernest "Sonny" Breaux

Ernest “Sonny” Breaux, age 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was a longtime resident of Houma.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home on Thursday, April 29, 2021 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sonny’s Celebration of Life Service begin at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joanna Lina Breaux; children, Nathan Anglin and wife Cortney, Ernest “Bubba” Breaux, Jr. and wife Tanya, Erica Breaux Babin and husband Kendall; grandchildren, Bennett and Ellie Anglin, Alexis and Juliana Breaux, Annabelle, Adelle and Andrew “A.J.” Babin; mother, Barbara LeCompte Breaux; sisters, Beth Breaux LeMoine and husband Francis, Pattie Breaux Bergeron and husband Dale.

Sonny is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Berwick “J.B.” Breaux.

Sonny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandkids called him “Poppa Sonny.”  He was known for his sense of humor, positive outlook, and unwavering faith. Sonny was a member of Harvest Cathedral; his most enjoyable time was attending church and worshipping with his church family. Anyone who knew Sonny, knows he loved the Lord and wanted to spread God’s message any chance he could. Sonny has now been made whole and rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sonny’s passion for cars carried him through his career stretching from working as a young boy at his dad’s service station, to owning auto repair shops, a used car lot, many years of auto insurance claims, and finally a Claims Supervisor at Laris Insurance Agency. He loved fishing, muscle cars, coaching, spending time with his family, and traveling with his wife.
