Ernest “E.J.” Joseph Duplantis Jr., age 71, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 8:07 p.m. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, January 14, 2019 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlene Marie Menard Duplantis; son, Michael J. Duplantis and wife, Rhonda; daughter, Michelle D. Fanguy and husband, Jonathan “Johnny” Jr., brothers, Johnny P. Duplantis, Sr. and wife, Carol, and Tony A. Duplantis and wife, Cindy; sister, Trudy M. Duplantis; grandchildren, Tre' M. Marcel, Devin M. Duplantis, Tate L. Fanguy, Macy L. Fanguy, and Caleb J. Duplantis; great-grandson, Kai A. Marcel.
Ernest is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Joseph Duplantis, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Hazel Josephine Triche Duplantis LeBoeuf and husband, Joseph J. ; niece, Traci M. Duplantis.
E.J. served in the US Army as an E4 Specialist Combat Infantryman during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a recipient of Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and The Order of the Purple Heart, Evergreen Lions Club, and East Park Volunteer Fire Company. He was a past member of the Terrebonne Sportsman League. He enjoy deer hunting, fishing, trawling, and camping. He never let his disability stop him. He live life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
