Emmett "Hoochie" Rodrigue, Sr.

Emmett “Hoochie” Louis Rodrigue Sr., age 80 passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 2:30 a.m. He was a native and resident of Bayou Black, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Monday, November 18, 2019 beginning at 9:00 am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Bayou Black Cemetery.

Emmett is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Marie Rodrigue; sons, Emmett L. Rodrigue, Jr. and wife, Tara, Brad J. Rodrigue and wife, Melynda, and Bobby Thibodeaux and wife, Monica; daughters, Bonnie Della R. Loupe, Helen R. Pellegrin and husband, Jim, Mary R. Billiot and husband, Jimmie, Joan T. Ellender and husband, Gerald, Debbie T. Cunningham and husband, Glenn, and Libby T. Vegas and husband, the late, Dennis "Spice”;  21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.

Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert and Della Marie Hebert Rodrigue; brothers, Warren Rodrigue and wife, Eula, Will Rodrigue, and Ronald Rodrigue.

Hoochie was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  He served as a member of the Knights of Columbus, in the US Army, and retired from SLECA after 38 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, being outdoors, playing cards with friends, giving "good" advice, playing the lottery, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.  As Snerge Hebert once said he’s “Another good man gone”.  The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice especially Sue and Patrice for their love, support and compassion.
