Elsie Lee Peffer Cunningham

Elsie Cunningham, age 84, a native of Deer Park, AL. and resident of Houma, LA., passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Clinton Cunningham (Nancy Delos Santos) and Walter Edgeworth, Sr.; her daughters, Angel Cunningham, Juanita Coleman (Wayne), and Cynthia White (Charlie); her grandchildren, Elic Bolden (Krista Foret), Kristopher Bolden (Kanier Shorter), Leeann Edgeworth, Walter Edgeworth, Jr., Jimmy Hunter, Marie Banks, Tina Bullock, Bradley Bullock, Brandy Cunningham, Bradley Cunningham and Armond Cunningham IV; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 4 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and her fur baby, Bo.

Elsie was preceded in passing by her husband, Armond J. Cunningham, Jr.; her parents, Walter Peffer and Lilly Wood Peffer; her sons, Clayton Cunningham and Armond Cunningham III; her brothers, Walter “Buddy” Peffer and Clyde Peffer; her sister, Louise Peffer White; her step-brother, Bud.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Elsie on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Holy Rosary Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Elsie will be laid to rest in Holy Rosary Cemetery immediately following services.

Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a bus driver for the Terrebonne Parish School Board for over 30 years. Elsie never met a stranger and enjoyed going to Walmart to “visit” with her many friends, as she would be there for hours and come back with only a gallon of milk. She loved to cook for her family, so much that if you walked into her house on any given day, she would have four burners and the oven on, and you would think it was Christmas. Elsie loved to shop at thrift stores. She never wore the same outfit twice and always had her matching jewelry for each one. Elsie also enjoyed riding in the car, whether it was a road trip or up and down the bayou.
