Elmore Nelton, Sr.

Elmore Joseph Nelton, Sr., age 87 passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 12:42 am. He was a native and a resident of Chauvin. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Elmore is survived by his sons, Elton J. Nelton and wife, Danette, Steve J. Nelton, Sr., Leeray J. Nelton, Sr. and wife, Dolly, Elmore J. Nelton, Jr. and wife, Tina, and Lloyd J. Nelton, Sr. and wife, Grace; brother, Robert Nelton and wife, Mary; sister, Lena Thibodeaux and husband, Conrad; 19 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Elmore is preceded in death by his wife 63 years, Theresa Sevin Nelton; parents, Alvin J and Uzelia LeBoeuf Nelton; brothers, Alley Nelton, Sr., Melton Nelton, Abbey Nelton; sisters, Edna Lisotta and Irene Nelton; grandsons, Leeray Jr. and Tommy Nelton. Elmore enjoyed fishing, eating crabs, going to church and spending time with family and friends. His favorite quote: “May God bless you with all that is good and all that is great and all that he has. May you go with God”. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
