Elizabeth Cannon

November 19, 1955 — June 12, 2022

Elizabeth Mott Cannon, age 66, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, in the early morning. Liz was a native of Welsh, LA and a 51-year resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation in Chapel Dauphine of Chauvin Funeral Home on Sunday, June 19, 2022, from 5:00 pm until her Celebration of Life Service at 7 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.

Liz is survived by her loving husband, James F. Cannon; her children, Sarah Olivier (Alex), Stephanie Cannon Lee, and Alexander B. Cannon; siblings, Charlotte Lyon (Jeff), Roy A. Mott (Noreen), and Karl D. Mott (Darlene); grandchildren Gabriel Olivier, Grace Olivier, Athena Lee, and Baxter Lee.

Liz is preceded in death by her parents, R.A. Mott and Leona B. Mott; sisters, Glenda Geisendorff and Susan Meyer; brother, Robin K. Mott.

Liz was an avid reader, having read over 7,000 books. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles daily and watched Jeopardy with Jim Monday-Friday. She loved to dance to live music and was a loyal fan of Nascar. Liz believed that charitable donations should be in your own local community. She was a strong supporter of the Haven, encouraged by her friend Ricky Felio.

Many thanks to the staff and those who helped the family. Thanks to gal pals Kathy Miller Voshalike, Melanie “Sam” Hotard, Queenie Watson Oncale, Bonnie E. Rhodes Taylor, Bessie Billiot, Marilyn “Marvelous” Schwartz, Sonia McNamara, and Julie Whitney for all the fun times. A special thanks to all her dance partners at Jack’s, they know who they are.

A special thank you goes to Annette “Angel” Broussard for her exceptional care of Liz. Also, thanks to caregivers Bonita Welch, Patricia Lloyd, Alexis Raymond, Jasmin Coleman, Tammy Hart, Raven Ross, Rose Johnson, Tara Scott, and Richard Benoit.
