Earl Eschete, Jr.

Earl Francis Eschete, Jr., D.D.S., 75, a native and resident of Houma, was born on Wednesday, February 14, 1945 and peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation that will be held in his honor at Chauvin Funeral home on Monday, January 11, 2021 beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with interment following in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.  

Due to Covid19 and CDC regulations, family and friends attending services are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.

Dr. Earl is survived by his loving and devoted companion, Julie Keife; his sister, Sydney (Rodney) Eschete Knight; his brother, John Eschete; his nieces, Kate Knight, Toni (Andre) Porretto, and Dawn Desormeaux; his nephew, Casey (Francie) Desormeaux; 6 great nieces and nephews; and his dog, Bailey.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Francis and Thelma Price Eschete, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Christine D. Eschete.  

Dr. Earl was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. He loved education. He attended Nicholls State College (known today as Nicholls State University) where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree.  He went on to graduate from Loyola University New Orleans School of Dentistry followed by 21 years of service in the United States Navy where he retired as a Commander in 1992.  Upon his retirement from the Navy, he returned to his hometown of Houma to open his private dental practice for 18 years.  

He had a passion for dogs and loved having them in his life.  His other hobbies included reading, gardening, wood-working, and model airplanes.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  

He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.  

His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Terrebonne General Medical Center for his care.
