Eanest “E.J.” Bergeron, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. E.J. is a lifelong resident of Houma and now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home in the Magnolia Chapel on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma beginning at 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. E.J. is survived by his loving wife of 63 ½ years, Joyce Voisin Bergeron; children, Annie Bergeron Berthelot and husband Terry, Dale “Pete” Bergeron and wife Pattie, Melvina “Mel” Smith and husband Ronnie, Amanda “Mandy” Arceneaux and husband Steve, Joyle “Joe” Bergeron and wife Lori, Modez “Maude” Fonseca and husband Timmy; twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Winona and husband Sherrill, Marie, Millie, and Margie. E.J. is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Malvine Redmond Bergeron. E.J. met Joyce Voisin and they married September 5, 1954. They began a beautiful family and was blessed with six children and enjoyed every moment of their 63 ½ years. He was hardworking, and dedicated to his family. E.J., although he was a quiet man, he loved and appreciated southern style cooking and dancing. You could find E.J. and his wife Joyce at Big Johns cuttin’ a rug and at East Park Recreation Center on Saturday night and listening to their good friend L.J. Foret. E.J. was very talented with his hands woodworking, hardworking and paid attention to every detail. Chauvin Funeral home is honored to serve the Bergeron family.
