Dorothy Smith

August 22, 1926 — February 2, 2021

Dorothy Mary Fenton Smith, 94, a native of St. Louis, MO, resident of Casper, WY and a prior longtime resident of Houma, LA, died at 7:01 pm, Tuesday February 2, 2021. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am, February 11, 2021 at the Annunziata Catholic Church in Houma, LA with burial in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery. 

She is survived by her children, one son Francis (Frank) Smith Jr. and his wife, Maria Duplantis Smith; daughters, Cynthia Smith Farrell and husband John Farrell, Margaret Smith Eschete and husband, Dean Eschete, and Maria Regina Smith; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Francis August Smith Sr.; her parents William Fenton and Ninette Moore Fenton; her 4 brothers, 6 sisters; and her granddaughter, Amelia Eschete. 

She was a longtime parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church and was involved in mission work in Central America. 

Dorothy was employed as a nurse at Terrebonne General Hospital, Chabert Medical Center, Home Health Care and the State of Louisiana until her retirement at the age of 75.

Dorothy and Francis were well traveled to many foreign countries and lived in Venezuela in the early 60’s.

The family wishes to thank Casper Frontier Home Health Hospice and her caregivers, granddaughter Paige Farrell Houston and her husband Josh Houston for the constant care and the ability to have her in their home until her final days. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Food For the Poor. 

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
