A visitation will be held in her honor at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 9 AM until the Celebration of Her Life at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Frances De Sales Cemetery #2.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Jayme Henley Kreller (Mike) and Glen Alan Henley (Linda); grandchildren, Gavin Poiencot and his companion, Kiaya Dardar, David Henley (Michelle), Jimmy Henley, and Darren Henley; great grandchildren, Gary Henley, Andrea Henley Boudreaux, Brandon Henley, Hannah Henley, and Hazel Henley; 2 great-great granddaughters; and numerous step-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Donald Henley; son, Gary Lloyd Henley; grandsons, Gary Lloyd Henley, Jr., Joshua Robert Henley, and Craig Alan Henley; parents, Jane Francis Morris and Rufus Ichebod Morris; siblings, Mary Morris, Euclid Morris, Eldridge Morris, Hershal “Pug” Morris, Glen Morris, and Millard Morris; and her favorite and beloved grand-dog, Tucker.
“Dot” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family and grandchildren dearly. She and Ed owned and operated the Shop-N-Bag for 35 years. She loved all her customers, and they reciprocated that love equally.
Dorothy had a big smile that would light up the room. Her loving and warm spirit will be missed. Her personality, smile, and love she had for all will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Anyone who knew Dot knew her love for golf, cards, and T.V., especially game shows. She loved her game shows so much that she traveled to Los Angeles, California in 1974 to be a contestant on The Match Game. She entertained the host and celebrities as the star she was. Dot leaves behind a beautiful legacy to be reunited with her family that has passed away before her.
The family of Dorothy would like to extend special thanks to The Heart of Hospice staff, Jodi, Stephanie, Sue, Nikki, Patrice, and Shanece, her longtime PCP, Julie Rhodes, and her very special sitters, Kaycee Oldbear and Lisa Cunningham, for their care and compassion during her last years and moments.
Dorothy “Dot” Henley will be dearly missed by all those who had the honor to know and love her.
