Dorothy "Dot" Chaisson

Dorothy “Dot” Rita Chaisson, 79, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 9:43am.  Dot was a native of Montegut, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Chauvin Funeral Home beginning at 9:00am until service time.  A Liturgy of the Word memorial service will begin at 10:00am thereafter.  Burial will take place upon completion of the memorial service after a funeral procession to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, LA.

Dot is survived by her sisters, Verla Chaisson Hotard and Brenda Chaisson Robicheaux, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.  Dot is also survived by her longtime companion, Larry Gautreaux.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Luc Chaisson Sr. and Adele Marie Guidry Chaisson; sister, Esther Chaisson Ellender; and brothers, Archie Paul Chaisson Sr., Dudley Chaisson Sr., Ruble “Butch” Chaisson, Joseph “Joe” Luke Chaisson Jr., and Merton “Pete” Chaisson.

Dot was an avid Elvis admirer and Saints fan.  She also enjoyed vacationing, most especially her trips to Memphis to see Elvis’s birthplace and her cruise to Mexico.  She also often spoke of enjoying her participation in the Special Olympics.

Dot will be dearly missed and always loved by her many friends and family.

The family would like to extend their thanks to TARC for facilitating such a normal, happy and independent life for Dot; to Dr. Matherne for his many years of caring for Dot as her family doctor; to Heritage Manor for their care of Dot during her last few years; to TGMC CCU for their care and support during Dot’s final days; to Lydia Voisin for her friendship, which was so special to Dot; and, especially to Dot’s brother, Joe, who saw to Aunt Dot’s needs for many years before his passing and to Dot’s niece, Wanda Blanchard, for her love and dedication to seeing to Dot’s wants and needs during her final years.
