Cathern Gooch Adair

Cathern Gooch Adair, 88, a native of the Mount Vernon Community in Arkansas and a longtime resident of Montegut, Louisiana, passed away at 1:10 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. A visitation will be held in her honor from 9 AM until 11 AM. The service will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, I.K. Adair. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Lourena and Stinson Gooch; sisters, Opal Renfro, Dorothy Reeves, and Clyde Ford; and brothers, Edwin, Parker, Roy and Thurston Gooch. Cathern is survived by her daughters, Carolyn “Liz” Adair and Becky Kraemer (Sammy) and her son, Sonny Adair. Also surviving her are her grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea and Dave, Amy and Valdo, Ashley and Brandon, Megan and Brooks; great grandchildren, McKayla and Josh, Cole, Koby, Seth, Brennan, Ty, Briya, Draven, Silas, Ace and Ryker; and great-great grandchild, Olivia. Cathern was known as Momma to her children, Mammaw to her grandchildren; great grandchildren and great-great grandchild, and Aunt Sister to her nieces and nephews. Cathern was a bonus mom to Andrew, Barbara, and Susan, as well as a bonus mammaw to Teddy, Dawn, and Addison. She loved and was loved by so many. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, baking, canning, and watching the hummingbirds on her back porch. Cathern will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
