Catherine Mahler

Catherine Henrietta Mahler, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Born July 4, 1941, she was a native and lifetime resident of Houma, Louisiana.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Chapel Dauphine of Chauvin Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Catherine is survived by her son, Billy Wurzlow, Jr. and wife Terri; daughters, Winnie W. Pellegrin and husband Duaine, and Denise W. Callais and her companion Mike Leray; grandchildren, Hunter Wurzlow, Stephanie Pellegrin, Steven Wurzlow, Jansen Callais and his wife Amanda, and Tyler Pellegrin; great-grandchildren, Aubrie Wurzlow, Hayes Wurzlow, and baby Callais on the way; sister, Winona “BeBe” McElroy and husband Vic; and sister-in-law, Margaret Mahler.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Butley J. Mahler, Sr. and Wenonah Fanguy Mahler; and brother, Butley “Butch” Mahler, Jr.

Catherine was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was a lifelong, loving caregiver to the young and old.  She was a teacher’s assistant at SEC/TVRC, child caregiver in her home, owner of Miss Cathy’s Daycare, and later cared for the elderly.

Catherine will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends whose lives and hearts she touched.

The family would like to thank the administration, nurses, and caregivers at The Homestead Assisted Living and Haydel Memorial Hospice for all their care, love, and support.
