Carrol Martin

September 9, 1949 — December 29, 2019

Carrol Joseph Martin, 70, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 8:51pm. Carrol was a native and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home and resume on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 9:00am until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Liturgy of the Word will follow visitation at 11:00am. Burial will take place at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Carrol is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Lisa Porche Martin; children, Cy Joseph Martin, Dex Joseph Martin, Marcelli Rosamond and husband K.P. Rosamond; grandchildren, Ace Joseph Martin, Brendan Rosamond, and Jordan Rosamond; sister, Earline Martin Theriot and husband Buck Theriot. He is also survived by his godchild, Leigh Champagne, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; one brother-in-law, Rayne Joseph Porche and wife Pam.

Carrol is preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Doris Guidry Martin; brother, Earl Francis Martin.

Although Carrol was known for the golden toothpick he sported, his true identity was even more golden. Carrol had a huge heart and loved big. He loved his family and was a true family man. He was a friend to many, and had many friends. Carrol never looked down on anyone unless he was helping them up or helping them out. He gave of his talent and time while painting houses for those who were in need, made donations of all sorts, and generously invested in the future of his nieces and nephews. Carrol loved his country and was a true patriot. He was the proud father of a US Marine and was a huge supporter of the South Louisiana Veteran Outreach. Carrol also involved himself in community activities and was a board member of Children’s Water Safety Awareness. Carrol will forever be remembered for his quick-witted humor, his constant smile, and the twinkle in his eye.
