Carmen West

Carmen Gisbert Asensio West, 78, passed away on December 10, 2022. Carmen was born in Cartagena, Spain and was a resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friend are invited to attend a memorial to celebrate Carmen’s life on Saturday January 7, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at Chauvin Funeral Home. 

Carmen adored and loved her family unconditionally, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger.  Everyone loved her free spirit and contagious smile. She loved to cook and feed everyone.   She was a seamstress for years and thankfully passed on some of her talent to her two daughters, Sue and Flo.  She was a housewife and the glue that held her family together. 

Carmen leaves behind her loving family. Husband, Joseph H West Jr of 59 years; her children, Suzanne West (Mark), Joseph H West III (Jenny), Christopher West, Anthony West (Tara), and Florence “Flo” Moore.  Her grandchildren, Bridgett West, Alyse Dawson (Ben), Chelsea Schurman (Ryen), Caitlin Murphy (Claude), Ashley McNamara (Seth), Hannah and Eric Hadley, and Austin Moore. Her great grandchildren, Chloe and Carter Cartwright, Jack and Nash Dawson, and Coven Murphy.  Her siblings, Josefina Gisbert Asensio and Ramon Gisbert Asensio and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. 

Carmen was preceded in passing by her father, Jose Gisbert Ballester and mother, Florentina Asensio Sanchez. Her father-in-law, Joseph H West Sr and mother-in-law, Beatrice West, sister-in-law, Mary Jean Trimble.  Her sister, Maria Gisbert Asensio and husband Felix; brother, Fabian Gisbert Asensio, niece, Rosa Gonzales, and Daughter in law, Cindy West. 

Carmen will be missed dearly but will live in our hearts forever.  To know Carmen was to love her, gone but never forgotten.
