Carl Joseph Tanner, Sr., age 71, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He was loved by his family and will be dearly missed. He was a native of Grand Caillou and a resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, November 26, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in the Veteran Cemetery in Slidell.
Carl was survived by his wife of 15 years, Rose Hurlston Tanner; sons, Danny Carl Tanner and wife Krystal, Kevin Tanner and wife Brandi; adopted daughter, Catherine Renarose Tanner; 4 grandchildren; step-children, Gardene Hurlston, Ruby Hurslton, Robert Dilbert, Mitchel Dilbert, Carlin Dilbert and wife Kelsey Held, Martha LeBlanc and husband Gary; 16 step-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Tanner, Jr. and wife Shirley, Iva Lou Degate and husband Charles, Saul Tanner and wife Melinda, Sally Verdin and husband Webb, Bonnie Spigner and husband Donald, Dorcina Coulon, Vanessa Leleux and husband Thomas, Belinda Solet and husband Addie. Carl is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Valvina Tanner; daughter, Karla Tanner; son, Carl Tanner, Jr.; granddaughter, Amber Tanner.
Carl was fun, loving, and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He loved watching all football games, western movies, and enjoyed music, dancing, and playing cards on his pastime. Carl served in the U.S. Army, we are all grateful for his service.
