Carey John Naquin, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday December 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church Thursday December 23, 2021 from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery #2.
Carey is survived by his wife of thirty years, Rosie Dusenbery Naquin; sons, Michael Naquin (Anna) of Alamo, California, Kevin Naquin of Erie, Colorado; step-children, Laurie Steinmetz of Lafayette, Louisiana, John Steinmetz (Ashley) of Leander, Texas, Joshua Fanguy of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Jack Naquin, Matthew Naquin, Sawyer Naquin, Alexa Lott, Peyton Foreman, Hanna Steinmetz, Parker Steinmetz, Cooper Steinmetz; great-grandson, Bailey “Charlie” Leger; sisters, Lynn Naquin Chaves of Lafayette, Janabeth “JB” Daigle of Houma; brother, Chet Naquin (Amanda) of Houma.
Carey is preceded in death by his parents, Merlin J. Naquin and Hilda LeBoeuf Naquin; in-laws, Eugene and Wilma Dusenbery.
Carey was a longtime LSU football season ticket holder and loved his tailgating and his beloved LSU alma mater. He enjoyed hiking and camping trips with his “buddies.” Carey also loved fishing and woodworking. He adored all of his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family especially wants to thank the Doctors and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Houma, La. The third floor nurses at Terrebonne General Health Systems and Dr. Donald Schwab. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Watkins and his staff. Thank you to our friends of Mulberry Estates Subdivision for the love, compassion, and friendships he so treasured and valued. A special thanks to Daniel Belanger and family, Kenny Broussard and family, and his hiking buddies.
