Betty Bascle

Betty Ann Benoit Bascle, age 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 7:50 am. She was a native of Iowa, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, May 21, 2018 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and St. Ann Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am. Burial will be held in St. Ann Catholic Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her sons, Ricky J. Bascle and wife, Catherine, and Gerard F. Bascle, Jr.; daughter, Rochelle B. Bascle and husband, Glenn; brother, Douglas Benoit and wife, Linda; grandchildren: Ricky J. Jr., Adam G., Caitlin E., Austin M. and Cara E. Bascle.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gerard Francis Bascle, Sr.; parents, Elie and Ruby Bell Benoit; sisters, Stella Toups and Jimmie Picou.

Betty was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church. She graduated from Terrebonne High School and Nicholls State University. She was a retired teacher with the Terrebonne Parish School Board. She enjoyed going to the casinos and having a good cup of Gumbo. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to AMG Hospital, Journey Hospice, and her caregivers, Melinda Gustave, Gloria Walker and Jeannie Stewart for the amazing care and love they showed Betty.
