Barbara Leger

Barbara Buquet Leger, age 80, went home to be with the Lord January 10, 2022. She was a native of Grand Caillou, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Chauvin, Louisiana but currently residing in Houma, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late John Pierre, Sr., and Annette Carrere Buquet. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Leo Joseph Leger and son Michael J. Leger, Sr.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Terri Leger Smith (Gordon) of Mint Hill, NC; three brothers, John P. Buquet (Sheila) of Houma, La, Earl “Polka” Buquet (Lyla) of Houma, La, Barry P. Buquet of Dulac, La.; four sisters, Joyce Luke of Dulac, La, Stella LeBoeuf of Dulac, La, Burma Mason of Bayou Black, La, Paula Buquet of Gray, La; grandchildren, Krystal Lynn Dufrene (Troy) of Plaquemine, La, Michael J. Leger, Jr. of Luling, La, Paige E. McCaleb of Lafayette, La; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin Saturday January 15, 2022 from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Barbara now rests in the arms of her Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
