Arthur Odell Arnold, Jr. was born September 27, 1929 in Breaux Bridge, La and departed this earth on October 3, 2017. He is survived by his wife Pearl; they were for married 22 years and 9 months. He is survived by four children, Wes Arnold and wife Deborah of Smithdale, MS; Sandra Melvin and husband Rocky of Jena, LA; Vicki Corbett and husband Dan of Alexandria, LA; and Dr. Tom Arnold and wife Cheryl of Shreveport, LA. Two Stepchildren Carol Davis and husband Gene of Houma, LA; Tom Wynn and wife Donna of Jacksonville, FL.; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Stephanie Workman and husband James and son Clinton of Cary, NC; Patricia Hill and husband Greg and children Caleb, Andrew, Madison and Emily of Knoxville, TN; Dr. Jonathan Arnold and wife Lindsay and children Nathaniel, Benjamin, Lukas and Sadie of Louisville, KY; Scott Melvin and wife Elizabeth and daughter Corrine of Indianapolis, IN; Emily Martin and husband Major Seth Martin and children Noah, Ethan and Madeline of Lincoln, CA (Beall AFB); Jana Kay Campbell and husband Jared of Lubbock, TX; Karen Wiggins and husband Josh and children Corbett and Quill of Alexandria, LA; Dr. Krystal Corbett of Ruston, LA; Lt. Bradley Arnold of Shreveport, LA and Sarah Arnold of Jackson, MS. Step Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Gene Craig Davis and wife Danelle and children Julia and Audrey of New Orleans, LA; Kami Fleniken and husband Mark and children Morgan, Emily and Riley of Houma, LA; Amy Wilson and Husband Paul and children Luke, Logan and Levi of Jacksonville, FL; and Mike Wynn of Jacksonville, FL.; He is also survived by two sisters; Glynda Cousin and husband Doug of Donaldsonville, LA; and Doris Cole and husband Homer of Jonesboro, AR. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur, Sr and Beulah Arnold and three brothers Gerald, Harry and Charles. Art grew up in Plaquemine, LA where he graduated from High School in 1947. He attended LSU until 1951 when he enlisted in the Air Force and served in Ohio and Japan as a Staff Sergeant. He then returned to LSU and graduated in 1959. Art was Owner/Administrator in the Nursing Home business for several years. He was an active Baptist from his youth. As a thirteen year-old during WWII, he was Sunday School Secretary because all the men were in the military service. He was a long time Sunday School Teacher and Ordained Deacon since 1959. He was a lay minister at Angola prison and did jail ministry at Assumption Parish Jail. He was Warden of the Louisiana State Women’s Prison in St. Gabriel LA.Art was a Music Minister for over 20 years at First Baptist Church Napoleonville and Tunica Hills Baptist Church near Angola, LA. He was a Member or the Gideons International and Bayou Seniors of First Baptist Church Houma, LA. Art became a Master Mason in 1966 and was Master of Ascension Lodge 251 in 1975 and 1979. Art was a Perpetual member of St. Charles Lodge 445. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Valley of New Orleans Masonic Lodge. A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Houma, Louisiana on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 9:00 AM until service time. The service will begin at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church.
