Arleta Guidry

June 21, 1935 — February 7, 2018

Arleta Jackson Guidry, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. She was a native of Bogalusa, LA and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and Friends of the family are invited to Visitation on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral from 9:00AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin after visitation on Monday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral at 11:00AM. Burial will take place after services in Terrebonne Memorial Cemetery in Houma, LA.

Arleta is survived by her sons, Lee Guidry Jr. and wife Liz, Toby Guidry and wife Becky; daughters, Kyrne Calongne and husband Terry, Dina Toups; grandchildren, Kelli Guidry and husband Mitch, Katie Calongne, Seth Guidry, Paul Guidry, Reed Fanguy, late grandchild Will Daniel Guidry, Anthony Fisher Guidry; great-grandchildren, Jenna Guidry, Hunter Guidry, Landon Guidry; brothers, Earl “Sonny” Jackson and wife Judy, Neal Jackson Sr. and wife Ann, Darrell Jackson Sr. and late wife Roxanne; brothers-in-law, Arlen Guidry and Larry “Peg” Freeman; sisters, Norma Loker and late husband Wamsley Loker, Cherylyn “Putt” Marchive and husband Sterling, Janine Guidry and husband Jack.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Guidry Sr., children, Bryan Thomas Guidry and Aleta Wayne Guidry; parents, Earl H. Jackson Sr. and Lena Granger Jackson; brother, Warren Carroll Jackson; sisters, Earline “Nutsie” Dove and husband Bill, Linda Guidry, Beverly Freeman; and sister-in-law, Earline Theriot Jackson.

Arleta was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and help to her entire family. She was a member of the Lady Elks at Lodge # 1193. She enjoyed socializing with her family and friends and never met a stranger. Arleta enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of her family. She enjoyed dancing, singing and listening to music; especially Patsy Cline, and her evenings out with her dedicated husband, Lee.

Arleta will always be remembered for her kindness and loved by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Homestead Assisted Living, Heritage Manor, and St. Catherines’ Hospice for their love and care. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Brian Matherne and staff.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
