Angela Guidry

November 30, 1955 — January 18, 2021

Angela Ann Redmond Guidry, 65, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, friends and loved ones.  Her sunset was Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:24pm. Her sunrise was November 30, 1955 in Houma where she lived her entire life.

Angela battled stage IV pancreatic cancer bravely for six years.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with Rosary to be recited on Friday evening at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:00am until 10:30am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery.

Angela is survived by her loving spouse of forty-seven and one half years, Thomas P. Guidry Sr.; sons, Thomas Jr. “Bumper”, Charles and Tad; daughter, Heidi; grandson, Gavin and her grand fur babies; mother, Flavia Crochet Redmond; sisters, Earline Lajaunie (Bob), Clara Redmond, and Kathy McElroy (Bryan); brothers, Russell Redmond (Linda), Reggie Redmond (Jackie), Keith Redmond (Mary Ann); god-daughters, Colette Billiot, Crystal Pye Allen, and Caroline Hebert. 

Angela is preceded in death by her father, Charley A. Redmond; brother, Charles Redmond and her beloved Fluffy.

She was a life long parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary. For thirty years, she was a self-employed cleaning lady for homes, offices, and new construction. She loved working with the elderly. She held a special place in her heart for the “Wednesday Supper Gang”. She most enjoyed spending time with her closest friends. Angela loved all flowers, especially sunflowers. Her award winning homemade pecan cake was enjoyed at many family, church, and social events. She also loved camping and Mardi Gras. She was an avid collector of all things Santa Claus, 550 in total, that were featured in the Houma Daily Courier.

 

The family wishes to thank the physicians, nurses and staff of Mary Bird Perkins, the 3rd floor staff of Terrebonne General Medical Center, Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, the Camp Blue Bird Staff and Journey Hospice. A very special thankyou to Fr. Jerry Villarrubia for his frequent visits.

In lieu flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Research.
