Aurelia Christine Blanchard, 80, a native of Bayou Black and a resident of Bonne Terre Village in Houma, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery in Bayou Black.
She is survived by two sisters, Mercedes Blanchard Ponville and Virginia Blanchard Kelly of Houma; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Burnett Blanchard and Ellis J. Blanchard Sr.; one brother, Ellis J. Blanchard Jr.; one half-brother, Clifford L. Blanchard; three sisters, Helena Branigan, Kathleen Jacquillon and Rita Mae Duplantis; and one half-sister, Esther Blanchard.
She was a retired nurse for Dr. Allen Ellender. She was a former maid with the Krewe of Hyacinthians carnival club in 1968. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
