Melba Ann Matherne, 66, a native and resident of Dulac, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass will be at noon Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two nieces, Debbie L. Matherne and Krystal L. Matherne, both of Houma; one great-nephew, William Rodrigue Jr. of Dulac; one great-niece, Cierra Calloway of Houma; one sister-in-law, Audrey Matherne of Houma; and many cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma Luke Blanchard and Gustave Matherne; her stepfather, Arthur Blanchard; one brother, Milton A. Matherne Sr.; one nephew, Milton A. Matherne Jr.; and one niece, Lola Matherne Rodrigue.
She was a loving and caring woman who enjoyed cooking, planting, gardening, working, playing bingo and visiting with her family, friends and loved ones.
She retired after 45 years of factory work with Gulf Coast/High Seas, all of Dulac and was a member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She was Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Family Church.
