Wallace "Poppa June" Z. Bernard, Jr., a resident of Houma, died at West Jefferson Medical Center Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to fu-neral time Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bayou Black. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his son William Bernard and wife, Virginia Martinez, of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Gretchen Bernard Young and husband, Partrick, Erin Bernard Enright and hus-band, Thomas, Drew Bernard and wife, Meghan Towns, all of Baton Rouge; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Mallory and McKenzi Young, and Ellie, William and Patrick Enright; four brothers, John "Bollie" Bernard of Thibodaux, Jules "Will" Bernard of Knoxville, Tenn., Robert "Bob" Bernard of Thibodaux, and Arthur "Red" Bernard of Raceland.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie Acosta Bernard; his parents, Wallace and Florence Ayo Bernard; and one sister, Estelle Bernard Bright.
He was a retired Greyhound employee. The family thanks the B.J. and Joan Daigle family and Michael and Katie Vinci for helping him maintain his independence.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terrebonne Council on Aging and Meals on Wheels.
