Medora Burrow Morris, 86, a native of DeRidder, La. and longtime resident Houma, La., passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2006. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with burial at Terrebonne Memorial Park. She is survived by two sons, John and wife, Barbara, and Robert and wife, Linda; one daughter, Claudia Quates and husband, Scott; five grandchildren, John, Matthew, Richard and Grant Morris and Max Frost. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. "Pug" Morris; her parents, Oliver and Iler Burrow and her three brothers, Virgil, Edward and Philip Burrow. While living in DeRidder, she was the head of the Rationing Board during World War II and the secretary for the police jury. After having married Pug Morris, she moved with him to Houma in 1947 when he started Marsh Equipment and Morris Bros. Boat Companies. She managed the office while he was in the field. Besides these endeavors and rearing a family, she found time to be involved in local civic activities. She served as president of the ladies division of the Lions Club, was a member and officer of the BarrBerry Garden Club, taught Sunday School for many years at the Presbyterian Church, led a cub scout den and was involved in the Senior Golf Association, helping to host the golf tournament when it was held in Houma. Additionally she was featured as Homemaker of the Month.
