Sarah Blum Babin, 91, a native and resident of Houma, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She is survived by two sons, Logan H. Babin, Jr. and wife, Anne, and Leopold Blum Babin; one sister, Bessie Blum Antis, all of Houma; four grandchildren, Kara Babin Gee and husband, Hunter, of Nashville, TN, Logan H. Babin, III and wife, Carrie, of Houma, and Catey and Robbie Babin of Alpharetta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Logan H. Babin, Sr.; her parents, Leopold Blum and Amalia Lewald Blum; her grandparents, Louis and Hannah Lewald and Joseph and Sarah Blum; and two brothers, Louis Lewald Blum, Sr. and Joseph Blum, Sr.
She was a graduate of Lorton Preparatory School of Houma and Louisiana State University.
She worked with her husband at his three businesses: Babin Appliances, Logan Babin Mechanical Contracting, and Logan Babin Real Estate.
She was active in the Terrebonne Chapter of the American Red Cross, Houma-Thibodaux Community Concert Association, Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society, The Order of the Eastern Star, Jewish Congregation of Houma (Beth El), and was a member of Temple Sinai of New Orleans.
She loved to travel (going around the world twice with her husband), dance, and play bridge with the Never on Thursday Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society or the United Way for South Louisiana.
