Gertrude "Momie" Agnes Schexnaildre Daigle, 104, a native of Bayou Goula and resident of Houma, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by six sons, Edward Joseph Daigle and wife, Virginia, Ray Daigle of Houma, Leslie Daigle and wife, Ann, of Thibodaux, Carroll Daigle and wife, Josie, of Gonzales, Jerome Daigle and wife, Carmel, and Thomas Daigle and wife, Nelva, of Houma; two daughters, Anna Marie Hebert and husband, Fred, and Carolyn Milsted and husband, William, of Houma; one son-in-law, Harold Begue of Houma; two sisters, Vera Dupuy of New Orleans and Ruth Clement of Plaquemine; 42 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph Daigle; her parents, John Berchmans Schexnaildre and Elizabeth Gallagher Schexnaildre; one son, Gerald Daigle; one daughter, Elizabeth Begue; one daughter-in-law, Marjorie Daigle; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Steve, Pete, Berchmans, Mervin and Earl Schexnaildre; and four sisters, Vivias Hebert, Alice Landry, Sister Mary Edmund Schexnaildre and Bessie Olano.
She was a homemaker and a member of Anawim, Catholic Daughters of America, Mother’s Club of St. Francis de Sales School and Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Francis de Sales School or Church or Vandebilt High School.
She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
