Margie Norris Butler, 67, a native of West Monroe and resident of Houma, died at 6:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, after a six-month struggle with Lymphoma.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at First United Methodist Church of Houma. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Twin Cities Memorial Garden in West Monroe, with burial in the Twin Cities cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Bruce Butler III of Houma; one son, Dr. Douglas Glenn Butler and wife, Pilar Araujo, of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Laurie Butler Allen and husband, Dr. Phillip Allen, of Albany, Ga.; one brother, Fred I. Norris of West Monroe; two granddaughters, Claire Rebecca Allen and Rachel Kathleen Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivey Thompson Norris and Mary Ellen Fleming Norris; and one brother, Bobby Norris.
She was the co-owner of Lumber Land and a former Terrebonne Parish school teacher.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Houma Literacy Club and the Home Demonstration Club. She was a member and organist for the First United Methodist Church of Houma.
