Ira Joseph Brunet Jr., 59, a native and resident of Houma, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006.
A memorial service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home.
He is survived by his first wife, Marcia Duplantis Garibotte of Bourg; two sons, Ryan Brunet and Joshua Brunet of Houma; one daughter, Danielle Boudreaux and husband, Brandon, of Bourg; three brothers, Rodney Brunet and wife, Eve, of Center Pointe, Texas, Brian Brunet and wife, Janell, of Houma, and Kim Brunet and wife, Vicki, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Duplantis and husband, Erich, and Lillian Dupre and husband, Tommy, of Houma; three grandchildren, Angelle Boudreaux, Logan Brunet and Cammie St. Marie; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; many close friends, just to name a few, Danny Savoie, John L. Martin, Gary Blanchard, Carrol Savoie, Sara Gibson and friends of Lake Martin, Ala., and numerous others who have been such a great part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira J. Brunet Sr. and Marguerite Buquet Brunet Chatagnier; his grandparents, Stanley and Lillian Voisin Brunet and Dovie and Lillian Hebert Buquet; one brother, Daniel M. Brunet; one niece, Dawn Brunet; and one grand niece, Jayde Solet.
Ira Brunet was know for his kind spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone; no one was a stranger to him. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He was a retired land surveyor. He loved the land, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and had a deep passion for ancient artifacts, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He was a very gifted artist, and he will be sadly missed by all whose lives he’s touched.
