Rhea Chauvin Matherne, 89, a native and resident of Houma, LA died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 5:40 AM.
Visitation will be from
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church
A Mass of Chrisitian burial will bew held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church with burial St. Francis de Sales with St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
She is survived by her
husband of 63 years: Cleveland Joseph "Bubba" Matherne, Sr.;
daughters, Karen Matherne Dupre and husband Douglas of Houma
Susan Matherne Goodreau and husband James of Pennsylvania
Connie Matherne Torres and husband Ted of Houma
Renee Matherne Fanguy and husband Gary of Poplarville, MS;
son, Cleveland Joseph "Buzzy" Matherne, Jr. and wife Genie of Miami; 15 Grandchildren and
11 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Albert Chauvin and Cecile Burcard Chauvin
sisters, Norma Chauvin Millet and Neola Chauvin Tucker;
brothers, Burcard Chauvin, Wilbur Chauvin, Earl Chauvin, Harold Chauvin and Lynn Chauvin;
grandchildren, Sean Thomas Goodreau and Edward Paul Dupre.
She was administrative assistant to the Secretary of the Navy. She was a secretary at St. Francis de Sales and Vandebilt Catholic High School.
He was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
She was extremely active in the Louisiana Homemakers Association. She was a founding member and active participant of St. Gregory Barbarigo Church.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed her crocheting and traveling.
