James Joseph Whitney, Sr., died Monday, September 14, 2009 at 6:15 AM at the age of 87. He was a native and resident Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Annunziata Catholic Church Service will be Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Annunziata Catholic Church with burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery. He is survived by his Beloved wife of 60 years Rosemary Songe Whitney, sons James Whitney, Jr. and wife Mona, John Whitney and Fiancee Kathie Bunton, Jeffrey and wife Lisa, Daughters Rebecca (Becky) Kreller and husband Mike, Rose (Beth) Hebert and husband Mark,Grandchildren, James Whitney, III, Mike Kreller, Kasie Whitney Chaisson, Jennifer Kreller, Matthew Whitney, Monica Whitney Blanchard, Corey Whitney, Jesse Hebert and Hunter Whitney, Great Grandchildren, Conner Chaisson, Anaya Whitney, Jillian Kreller and Kennedy Whitney, Brothers, Louis and Milton (Bud), Sisters, Tootie, Jeanne, Doty, Evelyn, Virginia, Barbara, Margaret, Catherine, Judy, Rose, Anne, and Anita. He was Preceded in death by, his parents, Hayes Whitney, Sr. and Maude Bergeron Whitney, Brother, Hayes Whitney, Jr., Sisters, Bessie Waguespack and Roberta Farris, and Grandson, Jeremy Whitney. He was an aircraft mechanic, and a union electrician with the local 130 in New Orleans. He served during World War II with the United States Navy on the island of Guam in the Pacific and during the Korean War with the United States Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was an active parishioner of Annuziata Catholic Churc. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, traveling and making people laugh. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may made to: Pancreatic Cancer Awareness at www.pancan.org
