Leo, age 84 passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of St. Landry, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Chauvin but currently residing in Houma, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from Chapel Dauphine at Chauvin Funeral Home on Sunday, April 2, 2017 beginning at 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the Liturgy of the Word at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Leo is survived by his beloved wife over 53 years, Barbara Buquet Leger; daughter, Terri Leger Smith; grandchildren, Krystal Lynn Leger Dufrene, Michael J. Leger, Jr. and Paige E. McCaleb; and 3 great-grandchildren.Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Odette Thibodeaux Leger; son, Michael Joseph Leger, Sr.; sister, Lydia Leger Ortego; brothers, Edval, Louis, Alsa, Leodese, Lester, and Edgar Leger. Leo was a great provider to his family, he and his wife Barbara were inseparable together. He instilled religious beliefs to his children and was proud of his Catholic faith. They enjoyed spending time together as a family and appreciated the beauty of South Louisiana. He worked for Shell Oil and retired after 35 years of service, he then worked at Antill Pipelines as a consultant. After many years of marriage, they both found a place at the Homestead Assistant Living, where they made many friendships and had great conversations. The Homestead residents have become family to them, Leo and his wife are very thankful for their companionship. Leo served his country in the United States Navy.
