Karen Owen

Karen Elizabeth Owen, 30, died March 18, 2017 at 8:41 AM. She was a native and resident of Houma, LA.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 5 PM until 9 PM and Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 8 AM until funeral time at Chauvin Funeral Home in the Magnolia Chapel with service at 11 AM. She is survived by her parents, Richard Jr. and Leah Smith Owen; daughter, Zoe’ Elizabeth Owen (6 week old); brothers, Richard Owen III, and Jason Schefferstein and wife, Brandi; sister, Erin Verret and husband, Adam; nephew, Liam Schefferstein; nieces, Kilee Lasalle, Cameron Callais, Shelby Schefferstein and Lauren Verret; She was loved by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Jaiden Cruz Wolfe; grandparents, Richard “TeBagin” Sr. and Zoella Adams Owen, and Elliott and Shirley Crochet Smith. Karen was a free spirit who loved life and had an infectious energy. She had a charm that was all her own. Those that knew her loved her as she had a natural empathy and compassion for all people. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, sky diving, riding motorcycles and relaxing on the beach. She loved being a mother and nanny. She was known as “Care Bear”. We take comfort in knowing that she has ascended to her Heavenly Father, where she is united with her son Jaiden again. Karen believed that Jesus was her savior. We would like to thank the LA State Police for their Compassion and professional service.
