Aubrey Landry, Sr.

Aubrey Anthony Landry, Sr., 91, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 4:17 PM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 9 AM until funeral time at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be held in St. Francis #2 Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Aubrey Landry, Jr. of Broussard, LA., Jason Landry of Casper, WY, and Eric Landry of Houma, LA; daughters, Gail Landry Istre of Bakersfield, CA, Susan Landry Ayo of Houma, LA, Cindy Landry of McComb, MS and Clarissa “Rissa” Landry Duplantis of Houma, LA: brother, Burnell Landry of Houma, LA; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Marie Dorsey Landry; father and stepmother, Paul Doffey Landry and Lelia Albert Landry; mother, Verna Carlos; brother, Doffey A. Landry; and twin sister, Audrey L. Standley. He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was past president and founder of Landry Furniture and past general manager of the Philip-Morris chain of furniture stores. He graduated from St. Francis Academy (Now Vandebilt Catholic High) in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran quartermaster of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theater and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 3700, American Legion Post 31, Knights of Columbus Council 7355, 4th degree Council, and in 1984 he was awarded the then Bishop Warren Boudreaux’s Medal for his outstanding service and dedication to the Catholic Church. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Bernadette School, Vandebilt Catholic High or your favorite charity. Special thanks to the staff at the Homestead, Dr. Russell Henry, and the Staff at TGMC for their love and compassion in his final days. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Landry Family.
