Charlene Weightman Shrigley, age 89, joined the love of her life, George Edgar Shrigley, with God in Heaven on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was a longtime resident of Houma, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at First United Methodist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Charlene’s soul lives on with love in the hearts of those blessed to have known her in life. A Yankee from Pennsylvania, Charlene found a home in bayou country. Arthur Lee, Margie, Danny, and Gayle are a few among many friends whose southern hospitality made Houma, Louisiana her “oyster”. She loved watching her team, New Orleans Saints. She loved our Lord and lived her life inspired by His grace. Singing in the choir each Sunday brought her the greatest joy, offering warmth and comfort after George’s death. Charlene was always ready to jump on the “joy wagon”, never saying “no”. She shared her special dishes at church gatherings and was always ready to share her recipes. Oh, how she loved to eat! Charlene had a kind word for everyone. Her youthful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May God bless and comfort you. Charlene is survived by her brother, Robert C. Weightman, niece, Tracy E. Parzanese and her husband Vince; niece, Tara L Brinton and her two sons, Bo and Lars. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shrigley family.
